Paint Fab polishes are all 3 free and made in the USA. I believe they have 15 or so colors available and are $5.95 for a single or $9.95 for a duo. So yes they are affordable (Hooray!) But I’m always going to be completely honest with you guys and I do have to say I wasn’t a huge fan of the shades I did swatch. I found all of them to be a hit or miss formula. Some were very thick, some were thin and I was even missing half of a brush on one of them. Do I think JustFab is ready to enter the polish world? Probably not. All of the swatches shown below were topped with the JustFab 2 in 1 Top & base coat.
Teal The Show – Teal cream. This was the thickest of all of the ones I tested out. It took quite a bit of work not to get it pooled in my cuticles. The color is very pretty don’t get me wrong, but not at all unique. Photo below shows two coats plus top coat.
Senora Bora Bora – Cobalt blue cream. Another thick formula. And even when using the JustFab 2 in 1 top & base coat, I still experienced a nice blue stain on my nails after I removed this. Not happy with that at all. Photo below shows two coats.
Pink Slip Me A Drink – Fuchsia cream. The formula on this one was semi thin and I had to swatch it twice because the first time it pooled up in my cuticles so badly.. but the worst part? My bottle only had half a brush! That’s the other thing with these polishes, all of the brushes were hit or miss as well. Some had a thin brush, some had an angled brush and in this case.. half a brush! How is that even possible? Photo below shows two coats plus top coat.
Auber Genius – Deep eggplant purple with shimmer. The formula was again, thick and the shimmer was sparse. Photo below shows two coats.
Modern Mauvels – Blush / mauve cream. Formula was VERY thin on this shade. This is definitely not my favorite color at all. I needed 3 coats for this to become opaque. Shown below with top coat.
Overall, as much as I wanted to be impressed with this line it definitely fell flat for me. Basically, you get what you pay for but in all honesty, you can go get a 0.99 polish from Wet & Wild and the formula will knock these out of the park. For now, I think JustFab needs to stick with what they do best and know people love – Shoes, Handbags & Accessories.
Have you tried any of the PaintFab shades? Did you experience the same issues I did? Sound off in the comments below! And remember – this is *MY* opinion. If they worked out great for you, then that’s awesome but for me I have to give them a thumbs down right now. Hopefully the formula can improve in the future!

Everyone and their brother have a polish line, lol. I’ll probably skip these because they sound like more trouble than they’re worth, but I will say that each and every color here is just gorgeous on you.

I find it odd that this new polish line has so much variety in brushes already. It sounds like they should still be in the testing stage rather than selling. I don’t think $6 a bottle is cheap enough to end up with poor quality brushes and formula when there are other brands that are good for the same price or less. The colours may be pretty, but I will be passing on the polish line for now.

I agree! I’m still confused as to why they branched out into polish. They are not something I would reach for ever again unfortunately.

Well darn! Perhaps they’ll improve it in the future :/

Would liked to have seen the brushes and staining to get a better idea of the inconsistencies. The paint on the “brushes” or lack of would also help understand their formulas. The colors look nice and since you put so much work into them might well be deceiving. Thank you for an honest review.

It’s awesome that they are affordable – but it’s terrible that they are so inconsistent – it seems to me that they need fix that up before launching. I have been a part of JustFab for a few years now and while it drives me nuts that I need to skip a month – I still think it’s awesome they are growing and evolving. However, I think they really have to nail it down right first. lol

Cue the sad trombone.
These look like cheap knock offs of cheap dupes. :/

I pity da foo who just looks at the swatches without reading your review and buys these, because as crappy as the formulas and brushes are, you make everything look good. I found myself thinking that maybe that purple would be worth it, because it looks so awesome in your swatch! lol!

Auber Genius looks kinda nice

Well, even bad feedback is good feedback for a company. Let’s hope they consider all the negatives and hopefully reformulate/repackage these polishes. I gotta admit, the colors are very pretty!

Too bad these had such bad formulas! Ugh!

My faves are the first blue and the last shade. Too bad the formulation wasn’t spot on because they look gorgeous.

Huge shame if they launched too early, with so many great polish ranges out there, you really need to be on the money with a new range
