Serum No 5 Fall / Winter 2013 Collection – Swatches & Review

Good Morning! It is absolutely freezing here today! And as I type this, I have on fuzzy socks, leggings, a thermal and a hoodie.. and I’m still cold! Fall is officially here! Haha! Anyways, today I have swatches of Serum No 5’s Fall / Winter collection. This collection is absolutely GORGEOUS. Some colors are limited edition, so if you love them, be sure to act fast!

Before we get started, I also wanted to let you guys know about an event Serum is having on November 10th in Costa Mesa, CA called Love, Preview. Love, Preview is a curated beauty and fashion charity shopping event that supports and highlights beauty makers and fashion retailers. All profits from the event (resulting from donations and ticket sales) will go towards No Kid Hungry to help end childhood hunger in America.

Acai Of Relief – Beautiful purple / teal duochrome. The first coat was very sheer, but it builds up nicely after the third. The formula was spot on and I love that it changes colors depending on how you move your nails. Photo below shows three coats.

Atomic Peach – Peachy nude with a subtle shimmer. This one also glows in the dark! Unfortunately, this was my least favorite out of the entire collection. The formula was rather thin and the color just didn’t work for me. It accentuates all of the ridges on my nails and I’m just not a fan of that.  (I was out of ridge filler at the time this was applied) I will say it glows in the dark wonderfully though! It didn’t need very long to charge up! Photo below shows three coats.

Best Witches – Tons of glitter mixed in a dark base. I preferred this color layered and China Glaze Elephant Walk was the perfect match! The glitters were a breeze to get out and I love the sparkle in the base! Photo below shows one coat of Elephant Walk & 2 coats of Best Witches.
A Cup Of Teal – Dusty teal holo.  I am in LOVE with Serum’s holo polishes! I begged her last night to do an all holo collection. They are extremely gorgeous, highly pigmented and have incredible application! Photo below shows two coats. 
Jaded – Jade green holo.  Yet again, another beauty! Application was perfect! Photo below shows two coats. 
Mauvelous – Pink mauve holo. Perfect name for this shade! It is absolutely MAUVELOUS! If you can only grab one holo from this line, I would recommend this one! SO stunning! Photo below shows two coats. 
Pink Lantern – Pink polish that glows orange in the dark! This one is limited edition and will only be sold during the month of October. There are some left on her site, so grab one while you can! Application was way better on this one than Atomic Peach.  Charge time was not long at all. Photo below shows three coats.

Rise & Grind – Micro gold & brass glitters and milky white squares all in an espresso base. So here’s th thing, you might be saying what the heck is up with this combo!? It’s one of those combos you either love or hate. I personally think it looks really military esque. (Kind of like the military jacket I have my eye on at Target right now) The olive green base pairs so well with the copper glitters.  Totally isn’t for everyone, but I love it! Photo below shows two coats of Tillie Leaf It To Me and two coats of Rise & Grind. 
Second Spring – Bright glitters in an ivory base. Love this one! I was originally going to layer it, but I love it on it’s own! It was incredibly easy to apply and took 3 coats for opacity. 
Samba-Dy To Love – Rich red & blue glitter mix.  I decided to layer this one over Lime Crime Lavendairy. I had to use the “blob & spread” method as my friend Emily calls it. I just blobbed the glitter on and spread it out – No issues! Photo below shows two coats of Lavendairy and two coats of Samba.
Overall, I think this collection is a total win for Serum! The holos are on point and the glitters are gorgeous! What are your top picks from this collection?

    I love babying mine some days! It’s funny, as much as i LOVE and enjoy painting them someday it is just nice to do my cuticles, file them and them oil and lather those babies up!
    It’s like a spa day for my hands lol!
