I had all intentions of making a separate 2 year blogging anniversary post on the 15th, but things got a little crazy. So here we are!
When I look back at where this blog was 2 years ago compared to today, it blows my mind at how far I’ve come. I still have my very first couple of blog posts up and I intend to keep them up. I think it’s important to look back and see the improvements and changes over the years. I literally had NO nails. They were short & stubby, I took my photos in front of my door, didn’t crop edit or watermark and had the worst photos known to man. But I didn’t care. Because it was something I enjoyed doing so much. I enjoyed painting my nails, learning new techniques and making friends with other girls in the nail community. Blogging has become my absolute favorite hobby.
I admire the larger bloggers who have made a career out of what they love doing. Do I make a significant amount of money blogging? Not at all. But I don’t care. I’m not in this for the money or samples or what have you. I’m in it because it’s something I am passionate about and I love interacting with all of the positive followers.
Over the past 2 years I have been blessed with having incredible opportunities that I would have never in my 29 years dreamed about. I was chosen by one of the BEST hair stylists plus other well known famous bloggers as the ‘Next Top Beauty Blogger’ back in May and received an all expense paid trip to NYC to visit the salon and have a weekend of pampering with my mom. That was a surreal moment for me. And one I will never forget. I was also chosen as the IT Cosmetics Blogger Of The Month for August and had a one page spread on their facebook page and got to do a twitter chat a few weeks ago with them. And last but not least, my post & guest blog for QVC. Those are three huge moments in my blogging “career” and I am so thankful for them. They would have never been possible without the support of you guys.
And speaking of you.. I wake up every single day counting my blessings that there are actually people out there who care what I have to say or recommend, what I’m doing in my life and how my blog is doing. You guys are what keeps me going and what keeps me motivated to continue to blog. I love waking up to messages thanking me for recommending a product or just telling me thank you in general for being honest with my reviews. You have no idea how much I appreciate the positivity on my page. I always always want my fan page and blog to be nothing but positive. Life is too short to be negative.
I see so many of my blogging & youtube friends deal with negativity all the time and it makes me sad. Why is it necessary to be such a bully behind a computer screen? We are real people with real feelings.
I have had several people ask me lately how I am getting an incredible amount of likes on my facebook page. I wish I had an answer. I wish I had a magical secret that I could scream out to the blogging community. But I don’t. I have heard several things about how it has to do with ‘facebook topics’ (But mine are gone from my settings) and how my page has been constantly coming up in the ‘Page suggestions’ option. I’m being told facebook is working on whatever is happening and hopefully every single one of you will see a jump in your likes as well. The nail / beauty community is extremely talented and every single one of them deserves all of their success they have had. I haven’t done anything differently and like I said, I WISH from the bottom of my heart I had more of an answer to give you. But for now, I am extremely thankful for the followers that have been there since the beginning and for all of the new followers who are constantly commenting on my photos, liking & sharing my page. (And even sending me sweet PMs!)
I hope to be still blogging 2 years from now and as long as I possibly can. Whether 1 of you reads my posts or all 100,000 of you, I will continue to do it because it’s something I love to do.
So thank you from the bottom of my heart for making the past 2 years an incredible journey for me. I hope you have enjoyed the content on Love For Lacquer and I hope it has taught you something as well.
xo.
