Happy 2013 everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful New Years! I seriously cannot believe it’s 2013 already! It feels like I was JUST doing my January favorites at the beginning of 2012. Thank you all for sticking by Love For Lacquer and making it a fantastic year!
I asked you guys on my Facebook page if you would rather a December favorites or a 2012 favorites and all of you said year round! We have a LOT to cover, so let’s get started!
Skin & Hair Care
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Leave In Conditioner – This stuff is fantastic! I have gone through several bottles this year – It conditions your hair and makes it feel silky smooth!
Philosophy Purity Facial Cleanser – I can’t even begin to tell you how many facial cleansers I have tried and pretty much none of them worked for me. When I use this PLUS my next favorite, my skin is glowing & has never felt cleaner!
Clarisonic Mia2 – I reviewed this on my blog a few months back and raved so much about it. I have been using it every single day since I got it and it is perfection. They are costly, but I promise you – worth it!
Simple Cleansing Makeup Remover Wipes – These are some of the best makeup remover wipes I have come across. They smell great, they take off your makeup with just one wipe and the Simple line is really fantastic. I go through tons of these!
Foundation
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream – This was in my favorites post so much in 2012. I love how light it is on your skin and if I don’t feel like putting on a full coverage foundation, it’s perfect for running errands or just hanging out around the house.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation – I have found my holy grail high end foundation! When used with the Tarte foundation brush, your skin looks amazing! Because it is pretty pricey, I tend to only use it on special occasion.. but it is definitely worth checking out! (Splurge on the brush too!)
Revlon Colorstay Foundation – My drugstore holy grail foundation! Coverage is fantastic and it’s very lightweight. The Revlon Nearly Naked foundation *almost* made it in this list, but I have only used it twice so I couldn’t really put that in here. Revlon foundations are seriously the best drugstore foundations I have come across!
Concealers
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind – One day while looking in my makeup collection, I realized I had NO concealers.. um..WHAT?! By recommendation, I picked up this one and it is crazy awesome. It has a sponge applicator and yo just dab it on your blemishes and under your eyes. Works wonders for mommy’s like me who tend to not sleep very well! 😉
Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer – Another fantastic product from Maybelline! I use this one when I want to brighten up my face. I’ll mix it with the age rewind for under my eyes for a glowing effect!
Eyeshadows
Urban Decay Naked Palette – I couldn’t decide between this and the Naked2. Both have been so convenient and a huge part of 2012 for me. They are easy to travel with and even easier if you’re feeling lazy. All the colors you could possibly need are right there!
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad To The Bronze – Best. Color. Tattoo. EVER. Maybelline stepped up their game hard core when they released these color tattoos. All the colors are fantastic, but I use this one SO much. It can be used on it’s own or as a base for your favorite neutral eye look! Super creamy and affordable!
Eyeliner
Urban Decay 24/7 in Zero – I don’t wear eyeliner a lot, but if I needed to I would always reach for my Urban Decay liners. They are easy to glide on, have great color pigmentation and last forever!
Blushes
MAC Dainty – This was my go to pink blush during the summer! It’s a warm pink with golden shimmer and looked fabulous with a tan! Really gives you a nice glowing effect on your cheeks!
Tarte Dollface – The perfect light pink blush! If you haven’t tried Tarte blushes yet, I recommend starting off with this one. Works on all skin tones and is very natural looking.
Bronzer
NYC Sunny Bronzer – One of the BEST drugstore bronzers I have found in 2012. It’s not too dark & doesn’t make your face look muddy. Best part? It’s MATTE. Thank you bronzer Gods!
Mascara
Maybelline The Falsies – Want false lashes? Use this mascara instead! The flexible wand lifts & separates your lashes to give them an insane amount of volume.
Covergirl 24hr Lash Blast – Pretty sure my favorite part of this mascara is how huge the brush is! Crazy intense volume and gives you bold statement lashes!
Benefit They’re Real – This mascara lengthens, curls, separates . and pretty much makes your lashes look flawless. This deluxe sample has lasted me quite a long time – I should probably splurge on a full size soon!
Highlighter
MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle – Stunning peach bronze that brightens up your face! This compact highlighter is perfect for using on your cheekbones. It’s worth the money and worth the hype! Trust me!
Nail Polish
Cult Nails Wicked Fast Top Coat – Pretty much what it says it does.. dries your nails WICKED FAST. I love this!
Sonnetarium Snowfall – The most perfect white glitter with beautiful sparkle. I can’t even put into words how much I adore this polish!
Essie Mint Candy Apple – I love my mint polishes & this was definitely a go to!
Zoya Aurora – Of course I had to include this – BEST Zoya polish ever!
Zoya Wednesday – Another dusty mint green color (Of course!)
HK Girl Top Coat – The holy grail of top coats of 2012. I cannot live a day without this! I have bottles scattered around the house. Thank you Jill for introducing the nail world to HK Girl!
Lip Products
Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched & Pink Punch – I love these so so much! They are super moisturizing and come in a bunch of different flavors & colors. Quenched is the clear one which kind of smells like fruit loops. Pink Punch gives your lips a hint of pink and makes them taste delish!
NYX Lip Gloss in Beige – I have talked about this one several times as well! The color isn’t beige, so I’m not sure why NYX would name it that. It’s actually a light pink color. Gorgeous!
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains – I have the entire balm stain line, but my top 2 are definitely Smitten & Lovesick! They have a slight minty smell and glide on like butter. And the staying power? Holy crap. When I take my makeup off at night while wearing these, I swear I wake up in the morning still rocking a hot pink lip. It’s crazy!
Nail Polish Brand
I mean come on.. it had to be obvious! Their collections in 2012 were out of this world! Round of applause!
Fragrance
MAC Turquatic – SO crisp & clean. This has always been my favorite scent, but I think I really became obsessed this year. I went through about 4 bottles. Oops?

Thanks Jess! I had my notes section opened on my iPhone and I was writing down a few of the makeup items on here! Can’t wait to try them!

Great picks you had some of my faves in there too like the Covergirl Lashblast, Naked 2 and NYX lip glosses.
Recently I’ve been really enjoying Lioele’s BB Cream and the Matte Lip color pencils from ELF and NYX blushes are always a staple fave of mine. Current fave nail polishes are It’s a Trap-eze and Essie’s A Cut Above and I still love my OPI Pink Friday lol.
Best Wishes for 2013.
Jessica says
Thanks so much! I will have to check out some of the matte color pencils from ELF! Happy New Year!

Great picks! I love the Naked Palette (I need to get the Naked Basics!), Simple wipes, and Revlon Kissable Balm Stains! I have been wanting more powder highlighters so I’ll have to check out Soft & Gentle! Everyone talks about it.
Jessica says
Soft & Gentle is definitely worth it and will last forever!

I love some and hate some, but I guess that’s the way it works when it comes to individual body chemistries. The Falsies, Snowfall, and HK Girl all definitely would be on my top list for 2012! Sadly, Cult Nails Wicked Fast does not dry on me in less than half an hour, but I still have my beloved HK Girl!
Jessica says
OH no! I’m so sad wicked fast didn’t work out for you 🙁 HKGirl all the way though! 🙂
Nicole says
Great list! Lots of products to look out for. I love my Urban Decay 24/7 eye liner. And I want the Naked palette so badly!
Happy 2013! 🙂
Jessica says
Thanks so much Nicole! 🙂
Jin Jit says
Oh wow, that was fun!
Although… I think it lacked the intimacy of the monthly posts 😉
Yes, I definitely wrote down a few items to check!!
Happy happy new year!!
And I can already hardly wait for the first 2013 monthly post <3
Jessica says
Don’t worry – monthly posts will continue this year! 🙂

I see you have Zoya Aurora on your list. I don’t own that one so I’ll have to take your word for it but I do own Zoya’s Faye & Blaze. They are my Zoya favorites of all time. I just got Blaze & I’m in love. If you don’t own them you should invest. They are gorgeous. You won’t see any great swatches of Blaze any where because no camera will pick up the gorgeous blue, turquoise & other small glitter tucked in the polish but they do show on the nail & it is simply awesome!!
Jessica says
Yes it is a must have! I reviewed the entire collection here > https://www.loveforlacquer.com/2012/12/zoya-ornate-collection-swatches-review.html

I love this! I’m a fellow Bloom beauty ambassador and I adore seeing what other people love to use. (I did a similar post recently here: http://cassiedulworth.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-scoop-my-makeup.html ). I’ve heard so many people talk about soft and gentle lately that I think i definitely need to go check it out! And WHERE do you get so many cute iPhone cases?!
