Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a safe & amazing New Years! I can’t believe it’s 2012 and I’m going to have a two year old running around in a few months. SO crazy! Anyways, today I’m bringing you the much requested review of Urban Decay Holiday Nail Kit.
I was REALLY excited when I saw UD had nail polish. Their makeup NEVER fails me and I love it. I got this in the mail a couple months back (Sorry about the late review!) and thought it would be a good time to write something up.
So this is what it looks like ~
It comes with six mini lacquers. 5ML or 0.17 fl oz. Super tiny. L-R ~ Wrecked, Ziggy, Barlust, Hot Mess, Gunmetal & Mars. The packaging is super cute.. The only issue I have with it, is the polishes are kind of difficult to get out.
That’s the back of the packaging.. Now let’s get into some close ups of the bottles.
Ziggy is probably my favorite of the bunch. It’s a really fun pink, teal & gold glitter combination.
Next up is Barlust. This is a really pretty dark bronzy- brown color.
Hot Mess is a BRIGHT pink with tons of sparkle! SO pretty!
Mars is a deep teal color with a bit of shimmer. I don’t think I have anything like this in my collection, so this is a stand out for me!
Wrecked is nothing special to be honest. It’s your typical vampy burgundy cream color. Meh.
Gunmetal is another non stand out for me. Typical light grey. VERY streaky.
So I began to swatch these on my actual fingers for you.. and then I stopped. I first applied Hot Mess. Well.. that’s just what it was. A MESS. The formula is horrible. Very watery, a pain in the you know what to apply. I was not highly impressed. So I snapped a few photos, and began to try to take it off to swatch another one. It was an even bigger pain to remove. So, by that point I had completely ruined my nails, cuticles and all of the above. I got out my color swatch wheel and hoped for the best.
L-R ~ Mars, Wrecked, Hot Mess, BarLusted, Gunmetal & Ziggy.
These are all THREE coats. If you’re a 1-2 coat, run out of the house girl, I wish you luck. These need to have at least 3 coats. They are streaky and really need to be built up if you want an accurate color.
I wish I could say I absolutely LOVED this set. I like it.. I’m just not over the top blown away by it. π But I will always still love UD!
What do you guys think of these colors?
This set can be purchased on UrbanDecay.com & retails for about $28. This set was kindly provided to me courtesy of Urban Decay. All opinions are my own.

Unimpressed. Not tempted even a little. Now I have more $$ for the new Zoya Spring collection!

Mars, Gunmetal, and Ziggy, I think, are pretty. I like how they look! I’m disappointed to hear about the quality of them too as I have also had many good experiences with their make-ups (eye shadows and liners in particular). I think that from what I have seen from Urban Decay, in terms of colors, is that they are out of the ordinary and something different which is why they are so appealing! I hope they change their polish formulas soon so they are easier to use … And probably come up with newer/better colors as well.

Thanks for the review! Glad I didn’t cave and spend the $28 on this. I’ll still prob pick it up if they ever put it on clearance though just to have it.

Great review, it’s sad that they need 3 coats though =/ Mars and ziggy are pretty, but I don’t feel they are worth taking the time to put 3 coats on.
